Soule Football Tournament 2010

We had the opportunity to go and do something for an orphanage in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
When we first visited this orphanage, we learned that the kids there loved soccer. There was a soccer pitch, but only one soccer ball to share amongst 160 kids. The caretaker also shared with us that there were cases of bullying where the younger boys would not get a chance to play at all.

To connect with the children, we decided to organize a football tournament for the kids.
With the help of some friends, we managed to do above and beyond what we thought of achieving!

  • Adidas sponsored 20 soccerballs and jerseys for all the children, thanks to the arrangement by Mr Tan Yew Hwee from Victoria Secondary School who made it happen.
  • Mr Gershon Liew sponsored a few hundred dollars to provide medals and trophies for the competition.
  • Ngee Ann Polytechnic Students volunteered to organize the event with us.
  • Ms Anna Yeow from Ngee Ann Polytechnic for being our guest of honor.

We also wanted to help deal with the bullying issue. So we added a stipulation rule to the competition. Every team that joined MUST have a mixture of older and younger kids. The kids were all excited to receive a jersey and have a chance at winning a trophy. They interacted across ages and learned to respect and work with each other in order to achieve a common goal.

Soule wants to thank all the everyone involved, and most importantly, the KIDS who made it happen! Soule Football Tournament was a rocking success because of every individual who made a difference!

Thank you so much!
